In today’s on-the-go world, children are experiencing high levels of stress and exhibiting problematic behaviors at higher rates than ever before. Behavior analysis utilizes what we call a “functional approach” to treatment. What this means is that through a functional analysis of the environmental variables that are affecting your child, I will determine the “why” behind your child’s problematic behavior and work with you to find behaviors that will accomplish the same “why” for your child, but in a healthier way.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) uses a similar functional approach. Through ACT, I will assist your child in figuring out what’s important to them and how their behaviors (both healthy and problematic) are interacting with and affecting the world around them in addition to helping them to accept the things that they are not able to change and move towards goals that will help them overcome whatever challenges that they may be facing and move towards the life that they want.
